Installation & Product Tips

  • O/B Terminal: The O/B terminal controls the reversing valve on your heat pump. Set O/B to "O" for Carrier, Trane, and most brands (energize on cooling). Set to "B" for Rheem/Ruud (energize on heating). Check your heat pump manual.
  • Emergency Heat: In cold weather, if the heat pump cannot maintain temperature, the thermostat can activate emergency/auxiliary heat (electric resistance strips). This is normal operation.
