The maximum line set length per zone is typically 25 feet (standard) or up to 50 feet with optional extended line sets. Longer runs may require additional refrigerant charge.
Tip 2 — Electrical Preparation: This 4-zone system requires a dedicated 40A double-pole circuit with 8 AWG copper wire. Have your electrical panel inspected before installation to confirm capacity. Each air handler also requires a 15A dedicated circuit.

This bundle is configured with the following zone capacities: 9K BTU + 9K BTU + 18K BTU + 18K BTU. As a general guideline, 6,000 BTU covers up to 250 sq. ft., 9,000 BTU covers up to 400 sq. ft., 12,000 BTU covers up to 550 sq. ft., 18,000 BTU covers up to 750 sq. ft., 24,000 BTU covers up to 1,000 sq. ft., and 36,000 BTU covers up to 1,500 sq. ft. Yes. The DIY 5th Gen condenser is rated for heating operation down to -13°F (-25°C) outdoor temperature. The system uses advanced inverter compressor technology to maintain efficient heating performance even in sub-freezing conditions. For extreme cold climates (below -13°F), consider the MRCOOL DIY Hyper Heat series which is rated to -22°F.
What additional items do I need to complete the installation?
This bundle includes the primary components (condenser + 4 air handlers). You will also need:

What are the electrical requirements?
The outdoor condenser requires a dedicated 40A double-pole circuit with 8 AWG copper wire at 208-230V / 1Ph / 60Hz. Each indoor air handler requires a separate 15A / 115V or 208-230V circuit depending on the model. Always consult a licensed electrician to verify your panel has sufficient capacity before installation.
Do I need a thermostat?
No separate thermostat is required. Each air handler includes a wireless remote control for individual zone temperature adjustment. The MRCOOL Smart Controller app (available for iOS and Android) allows you to control all zones from your smartphone.
